16) Please note that the administrators of this board have no access over the the content of private messages sent between users and as such cannot be expected to monitor them. A user can however choose to block messages from a specific user or users. Only in the most serious cases would the admin team become involved ie specific threats of violence, racism etc.

If any these rules are not adhered to the admin of the board can suspend or ultimately permanently ban users from the board at their discretion.

Thank you for your co-operation and happy posting.

I noticed that the rules had been updated by Willie today, and was wondering if this is a new rule that has been added?

If it is, then I would like to contest the assertion about access to PMs by Administration. This board is from InVision, and as in other sites, a key facility by the Admin is the access and supervision of all PMs. This power on some sites ( most notably a gardening site where it caused a furore when it became known -
:D ) can be delegated to Moderators.
Access to PMs , meaning that they can be read by a supervisory figure, is a quite well known facility to clients using this kind of Forum.

If it is a case that such a means of access has not been given to Moderators, the rules should clearly state as such, but I think that all users of this Forum should be made aware that Admin and/or Mods do have the facility to read PMs - whether they do or not is beside the point, the facility exists.

That may well be an option for Invision Power Boards, running versions later than 1.3.
We are on an InvisionFree board, and the option to read PM's is not available. Hence the amendment to the guidelines.

C.

I agree with Hirsty there. As a moderator, there is absolutely no way I can read another persons PMs.

Two things, Firstly I did not update the rules. if you read the bottom of te post it clearly states who did.

Secondly there has never been the facilty to read other peoples PM's on this board and i would strongly argue against such a measure. Surely the emphasis is upon the users to behave in a reasonable manner. if that is not possible then there is a facility to block pms from other users.

In box buddies/ block list insert name of user to be blocked. it takes seconds.

Phew, I sent something about the moderators lacking any kind of genitalia to another bard member.

I was worried you'd read it.

Great? He's just potty.

Although he's a thorn in our side, I can see that he rose to the occasion.

As this thread is now soiled shall I lock it? I'll keep it open if you cross my palm with silver.

Bloody 'ell Tubs, can we not solve the middle east problem instead, it's sounds less complex?

I checked out the MT gigs btw. All 3 nights were sold out, which is just as well because my only dependable child minders are going away for a month....problems which you'll no doubt face yourself in the future.
